Rev. Billy Lau
Our History
Founded in Kam Tin in 1958, the church was initially known as Kam Tin Gospel Church. Due to developmental needs, the church was relocated to Yuen Long (2/F, Hing Fat House, Kau Yuk Road) on 25 December 1991 and renamed as Yuen Long Kam Kwong Church, with Rev. Billy Lau as the senior pastor. Back then, the Sunday services were regularly attended by some 170 people.
As the membership grew, the venue could no longer meet our needs. In 2002, the third floor of Yuen Long Commercial Centre was purchased and Kam Kwong Life Literature (est. 1994), a bookstore serving residents in Yuen Long, was relocated there. In 2006, the Administration Center was further established.
In May 2003, the former Merryland Theatre in Fung Kam Street was purchased and converted into the Worship Center, which became our new service location since the dedication ceremony on 25 December the same year. Currently, the weekly services are attended by thousands of people. To better serve the community, Kam Kwong Integrated Community Service Center - Yuen Long was established on 1st September 2014.
World Mission Ministry
Kam Kwong Church has set up overseas branches in Singapore, Nepal and Los Angeles, U.S. Besides, its original site in Kam Tin is succeeded by Kam Kwong Nepal Christian Church to serve the local Nepali community in Hong Kong.
Our Shepherding
Kam Kwong Church adopts a family-based shepherding system. Under each "family" are "zones" and "cell groups" led by a family pastor, zone leaders and cell leaders respectively. Each church member shall be a member of a family and join a cell group based on his/her specific backgrounds.
To care for their needs at different stages of life, each member of the congregation also belongs to one of the six zones according to their age groups, namely Senior Zone, Adult Zone, Young Adult Zone, Tertiary Zone, Youth Zone and Children Church.
