Dr. Reverend Yukio Funatsu was born and raised in Hokkaido, Japan.
In 1967, he married Kiyoko Funatsu and he was pioneering a church in Yokohama, Japan. Soon after being married, Reverend Funatsu attended and majored in Bible Studies at Central Bible College in Tokyo. He graduated in 1970 and began ministry at that time and served as senior pastor of Kanazawa Christ Church located in Yokohama, Japan from 1976. In 2002, Reverend Funatsu received his doctorate of missions at Washington College and International Seminary.
In 2020, Reverend Funatsu passed the ministry of senior pastor to his daughter and son-in-law, Pastor Roy and Pastor Masako Selvaratnam. Pastor Roy served in ministry and training at Calvary Church, Malaysia, under Dr. Prince Guneratnam. Reverend Funatsu's daughter Masako and Roy both graduated from Assemblies of God BCM (Bible College of Malaysia).
Currently, Dr. Reverend Funatsu is serving as the general care pastor to church members at Kanazawa Christ Church. Through Dr. Yukio Funatsu Ministries, he is often invited to preach both domestically and internationally.
